Rheumatology Medical Billing Services
A rheumatology billing assessment should distinguish office visits from any medication administration workflow. Synergy reviews the services your practice actually bills, the supporting records and where claim exceptions need additional staff attention.
Define the visit and medication workflows
We ask whether the practice bills office visits only or also administers medications. Where drugs are involved, the assessment identifies who supplies the medication, who owns the claim and how the clinical administration record reaches billing.
A pharmacy-supplied product, a practice-purchased product and an outside infusion service can create different responsibilities. The proposal should state which work belongs to the practice instead of assuming all medication-related charges belong on its claim.
Give drug and administration exceptions a documented review
For an accepted medication-billing scope, we review the available documentation, product and service units, payer requirements and any questions requiring clinical clarification. Administered amounts and discarded amounts must not be inferred from a balance report.
Medicare has specific JW/JZ requirements for certain separately payable Part B drugs from single-dose containers or single-use packages. Applicability is checked for the actual product and claim; these modifiers are not a general payment shortcut.
Keep benefit questions and payer follow-up assigned
The assessment identifies who owns eligibility, authorization coordination, documentation requests and unpaid claims. Prior authorization work is separately scoped and priced; billing staff need a clear route for issues the practice retains.
We can discuss claim exceptions, remittance review and follow-up on a defined work list. Reporting should show the outstanding action and responsible party, with clinical and treatment decisions remaining with your clinicians.
What to discuss first
- Visits only or also office medication administration.
- Drug acquisition and supplying entity, where relevant.
- Authorization owner and available administration documentation.
- Current payer exceptions and the exact support requested.
Common questions
Is infusion billing automatically included?
No. Product ownership, documentation, payer requirements and staff capability are reviewed before that work is accepted.
Can you resolve drug-unit questions without the clinical record?
No. The billing review needs the appropriate source documentation and must return unresolved clinical questions to the practice.
