ModMed Billing Services for Specialty Practices
A billing review built around your specialty, your ModMed products and the work your practice wants help completing.
ModMed provides specialty-focused clinical and practice-management products, with billing services also available. Before adding outside help, identify the EHR, billing system and services your practice actually uses. Synergy can then discuss the billing tasks, access and responsibilities that fit your arrangement.
Map the path from the specialty visit to the claim
Start with the product names, specialty and practice-management system in use. Identify where the visit is documented, where charges are reviewed, and where claims and payments are recorded. A shared vendor name does not mean every practice has the same modules or workflow.
For a charge gap, compare completed services with the billing records for the same period. Keep documentation questions with the clinician and billing exceptions with an assigned owner. See our charge entry services.
Review specialty billing questions with supporting records
Procedures, modifiers, units, diagnosis linkage and the relationship between visits and procedures need to be supported by the documented service and current payer requirements. A code suggestion is a starting point for review, not proof that a claim is complete or payable.
We can discuss coding review and denial follow-through within an agreed scope. Clinical decisions and changes to the clinical record remain with the responsible provider.
Explain the difference between payments and balances
Separate insurance remittances, patient payments, credits, refunds and unapplied amounts before comparing reports. A deposit may cover multiple payments or a different posting period; an aging report may exclude categories shown in another view.
Reconcile the underlying transactions before pursuing a patient balance or writing off an amount. Use our ERA reconciliation guide and aging guide to frame the questions.
Coordinate with your current staff and services
ModMed offers its own revenue cycle services, so review the existing agreement before assigning work to another team. Define the need, responsible owner and reporting expectations. Confirm the product workflow and permitted third-party access before committing to an engagement.
A first conversation can establish whether the need is ongoing billing, a defined backlog or a reconciliation issue. See Synergy's service options for the broader engagement models.
Frequently asked questions
Which ModMed products do you need to know about?
Tell us your specialty, the EHR product, the practice-management or billing system and any existing revenue cycle service. Product names such as EMA or gGastro help identify the starting point, but we still need to confirm the actual billing workflow and access.
Can we discuss help while keeping ModMed?
Yes. We can review your needs within the current arrangement and determine whether an appropriate scope and access path are available. We do not assume a migration, a particular integration or universal access to every ModMed product.
Can an in-house biller remain responsible for part of the work?
Yes. Define which claims, posting tasks, old balances and reports each team owns. Use a documented handover and escalation process so the same account is not worked independently by multiple people.
Does a suggested code mean the claim is ready?
A suggested code still needs to fit the documented service, required modifiers and units, diagnosis linkage and applicable payer requirements. Confirm who reviews those items and who resolves a documentation question before submission.
What if we already use ModMed's billing services?
Review that agreement and the responsibilities already covered. Discuss additional help only around a defined gap or permitted separate scope, with the existing service's role understood. Do not assume another team should duplicate covered work.
What is safe to share in an initial inquiry?
Your specialty, approximate practice size, product names and a general description of the billing concern are sufficient. Do not send patient records, detailed account reports or passwords through the public form or ordinary email. Arrange secure access before detailed review.
Planning your next step
Describe your current system, specialty and billing concern. We will discuss the work needed, the access available and who should own each step. See our billing handover guide or browse billing resources.
